The first question that we are asked is "what is a pump lift station?" The answer to that question is quite clear; a pump lift station is an industry standard that causes sewage to be moved from lower elevation to a higher elevation; this allows the sewage to be taken down by gravity. Now, if we remember physics, we know that gravity is what pulls things closer to earth. It is the reason why our feet are stuck on the ground, and we are not floating around as in outer space.
The next question that we are asked is "why do you want to move sewage up just so you can move it back down?" The question is that when you are able to push the sewage or wastewater up to a high level, such as the top of a hill, you can allow gravity to pull the sewage straight to the sewage treatment facility as long as it is somewhere downhill.
The final question is "why not just build a pipe straight through to the sewage facility?" The answer to that is quite simple. There may be costs involved that make it too expensive to do that method. There could be some physical limitations that prevent a straight line from going from point A and point B. Last, it could be a lot easier to have the machine just pump up against gravity to get to the top and then have it allow gravity to take care of it on the downhill journey, saving energy and money.
There are many types of pump lift stations for wastewater treatment, such as dry well pump stations, wet well pump stations, and submersible pumps such as grinder pumps.
Pump lift stations are very good for industrial lifting problems and can lead to hundreds of thousands of dollar saved to major companies in Bakersfield and Arvin. Think of all the oil companies, sewage companies, and the like that exist all around this area. It is nice to have a nice pumping system to solve your problem! J. Woods Plumbing and Drain Cleaning is here to solve all those problems for you!
There are some specifics that come with pump lift stations. Some of which include how much fluid the pump can hold, the maximum amount of pressure the pump lift station can accommodate, the amount of energy that is required to be used to get the pump to work, and the width of the pump. There are also specifications that come with the lift station such as backup systems incase the external power goes out, the main control systems that govern the lift station, the power generator that gives power to the pump, and the barrier that surrounds it in order to protect it. In addition to the previously mentioned items, a lift station also has to be able to sense the pressure going through the pump so the pump does not do more work than is necessary or too little, causing backup down the line.
These factors all vary, depending on the lift station and the pump, and J. Woods Plumbing and Drain Cleaning can handle it all! When you need quality service, you know you can call us at (661) 577-4294!
